Where can I find more information?

If you are eligible for the vaccine:

If you are age 65 to 75 or are eligible under another category in Phase 1a or Phase 1b, you can sign up for the Health Department’s Alert system, which will alert you when more vaccine doses become available.

  • https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JFX97LP
  • To be clear, this will not sign you up for an appointment, this will only sign you up to be alerted when there are appointments available. The Department cannot set up the appointment system until we have confirmation of receiving the vaccine.
  •  If you do not fall under Phase 1a or Phase 1b, you will not be able to sign up.
  • Going forward, this link will be updated to accommodate further phases as those become better defined.

Sign up for vaccine information and updates:

If you think you are qualified to receive the COVID-19 vaccine under the current prioritization of eligibility as established by New York State (Phase 1a and Phase 1b- https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/phased-distribution-vaccine#phase-1a), please click the the link below to fill out the survey.  With this information the Westchester County Health Department will alert you when vaccine doses / appointments become available.

COVID Rent Relief Extension Program

The COVID Rent Relief Extension Program will provide eligible households with a one-time rental subsidy that will be sent directly to the household’s landlord. Applicants will not need to repay this assistance. The Covid Rent Relief Extension Program is not first come, first served. Applications will be accepted throughout the application period. HCR will prioritize eligible households with “greatest economic and social need.”

For the next round of applications, tenants will have to meet all of the following criteria:

  • Must be a renter and have a primary residence in New York State;
  • Applicants must have lost income during the period of April 1, 2020 to July 31, 2020;
  • Before March 7, 2020 and at the time the application is submitted, household income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income, adjusted for household size; and
  • Households must be “rent burdened” during the months they are applying for assistance between April 1, 2020 to July 31, 2020.

Scam alert

There are NO home testing kits

If you are called with an offer for a kit – hang up.

It is a scam.  There are also a number of phishing emails (i.e., attempts to steal your password) purporting to offer information on COVID-19 from authoritative sources.  Don’t click on the embedded links or attachments.

Beware of COVID vaccine fraud

To help root out vaccination fraud or scams across the State, New York established a hotline that New Yorkers can call to report suspected fraud. It is a red flag if anyone is promising you the vaccine in exchange for payment. To make a report, call 1-833-VAX-SCAM (1-833-829-7226) or email STOPVAXFRAUD@health.ny.gov

Be informed.  Review the resources linked above.

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoiding touching your face, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
  • Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces that you frequently touch
  • Covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue. Then throw away the tissue and wash your hands.
  • Staying home when sick

Seriously.  Wash your hands.  Watch the video from the CDC on hand-washing how-tos and listen to this catchy hand washing tune from Vietnam if you need inspiration.
